About Salmiler

"Most people run a race to see who is fastest. I run a race to see who has the most guts." - Steve Prefontaine
Calling all runners and running fans,
The name is Salmiler which might make people wonder what? Salmiler? What does that mean? Where did it come from? Well, let me start with a little bit of background information so we can understand what we mean by “Salmiler“. As some of you may already know, I have always been crazy about running for as long as I can remember. Running has always been my hobby, my passion, my driving force and my savior. I remember back in the kindergarten when the teacher would tell us to run around the field once before our recess time. I vividly remember the excitement felt as I waited for Mrs. Archibald to blow her whistle signaling us to run. When it came to competitions I was the one to beat, I always wanted to be number one and could not accept anything less. There was always other classmates trying to compete but nobody was a match for little Sal, who thought of himself as the fastest runner in the world in those days.
As the years in grammar school continued, I always enjoyed nothing more than running and proving to everyone that I was a fast little one. It was a great feeling to see the other kids and teachers watch in amazement at how fast I could run. This crazy running passion followed me through middle school, high school, college, and still, to this day; I can’t get enough. While I don’t consider myself the fastest runner anymore, and clearly, I know I am not by far, I still have the same feeling of extreme excitement every time I hit the road or the trails for a run. Today I train daily and run marathons a few times a year.
Now more than ever I am running longer distances than I ever did and I couldn’t change that for anything in the world!! Throughout my years I have run many miles and will continue to measure my distance in that form of measurement, hence the word “ miler.” By the expression “Salmiler” we mean, a crazy guy named Sal that runs and enjoys running miles. The goal with this Salmiler idea has always been to inspire, motivate and to educate all those running fans (people that enjoy the sport as spectators not yet regular participants) of the benefits that runners like myself have come to enjoy over the years. More than just running, the goal of Salmiler is to stay active, stay fit, and stay healthy in any form most enjoyable. There is no other better feeling than that of a healthy and clear mind, body, and soul as benefit from cardiovascular exercising regularly.
On this site you will find, primarily running related inspiration through our Salmiler blog where we will feature: quotes, journals, anecdotes, and cool running inspired t-shirts and accessories all under the Salmiler ideology. Please feel free to share your experiences, your suggestions, and questions as well. I want this to be a community of conscious individuals all here to learn and get inspiration from each other to live more positively exciting and healthy lives and try to better the lives of those around them.
And now the question remains…
Our lifestyle is on the run, R U ?
